Who I Am

I'm Spanish, living in the Netherlands.

I'm a generalist by nature and multi-faceted, and I don't fit neither in a box nor in a niche.

After almost nine years working for companies, I'm building my own path now: collaborating with startups whose work I actually believe in, and pushing my own projects on the side. Take a look at Local Steps.

What I Do

I build end-to-end solutions with a product mindset, turning ideas into usable software that brings value.

I started in QA, partly because that's where I found my first job, and partly because I genuinely loved it. Hunting down every scenario, especially the worst ones, was fun, and I still miss the automation side of it.

From there I moved into backend, because I wanted to build things from the guts, the kind of analysis and design work you only really find at that layer.

Eventually I realized I wanted more: to build full products, own features end to end, and get closer to user workflows and UI design. Full stack turned out to be the best fit for that, and it's what I do now carrying all the experience I've gained from the QA and backend years in a backpack.

Also I use AI agents to help me with my work, because I believe that automation for repetitive tasks gives more time to do more creative and meaningful work.

Full Stack Engineer @ South Pole (aka Climate Click)

Climate consultancy. Climate Click was their product for companies to measure and offset carbon emissions.

  • Built a new platform from scratch, using Event Sourcing in the backend to enable rebuilding database models as product requirements evolved
  • Built organization dashboards showing carbon emissions by product and service, offset amounts, and user activity
  • Collaborated with domain experts to build a matchmaking service connecting products with relevant emission factors
  • Built an e-commerce plugin that enabled online stores to add a carbon contribution to the shopping cart

A mobile game studio part of Take-Two. Where I worked on the backend of a Monster Legends game.

  • Worked on a PHP/Symfony monolith, maintaining and evolving an established codebase.
  • Refactored legacy features to newer PHP versions, introducing DDD and SOLID principles to improve maintainability.
  • Implemented new features focused on monetization and player engagement, based on designs and requirements from game designers.
  • Collaborated on the development of a matchmaking microservice for a team-race mode, grouping players into different pools to create balanced competitions.

  • Started as a QA Engineer and transitioned into Backend — I learned an enormous amount here, it shaped how I think about software
  • Built cart, checkout, and fraud services with the team, using Java Spring Boot/WebFlux, MongoDB, and Kafka
  • Built an integration testing service to validate requests between microservices as end-to-end functional workflows, using BDD principles.
  • Built a performance testing service to measure platform performance using JMeter and stress testing with Gatling.

A mobile web app I built as a volunteer for a community: showcasing events, locations of the events, users participating in each event, and user profiles to upload photos of the event. It was live during one week-long event.

Final project for my studies. I used it to learn how GPS actually works: GPS location tracking, bearing/heading, route visualization, navigation and directions. And how hardware and software communicate.

  • Recorded routes while the user was moving.
  • Guided users along a route with left/right indications based on their bearing.
  • Provided non-visual navigation indications, so users could follow a route without looking at the screen (e.g. one vibration for left, two for right).
  • Displayed the location of other participants.
